Prof. Dr. Steffen Staab

Steffen Staab is director of the Institute for Web Science and Technologies at the University of Koblenz-Landau. He is a Professor für Web Science and Computer Science at both the University of Koblenz-Landau and Southampton. In 2012 he founded the international Master programme in Web Science at the University of Koblenz-Landau.

Professor Staab owns several positions in the field of Web Science. He is chair of the Web Science Trust Network of Research Labs and member of the advisory board of the L3S research center. From 2008-2014 he was chief editor of the Journal of Web Semantics. He holds memberships of the editorial boards of the Journal of Web Science, the International Journal of Human-Computer Studies and the Journal of Intelligent Information Systems. Steffen Staab has been involved in several conferences in the field of Web Science. He was general chair of the International Semantic Web Conference 2015, the INFORMATIK 2013, ACM Web Science Conference 2011 and the ACM International Conference on Intelligent User Interfaces 2008. He has been the chair of the program committee on various conferences.

For his achievements Professor Staab received several awards. He is fellow of the European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence, has received the Ted Nelson Newcomer Award of ACM Hypertext Conference (2008) was awarded first place at the Billion Triples Challenge of ISWC 2008.
