In the morning we take tour bus from the venue up the river Rhine to Braubach, an old city in the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley.
There we approach Marksburg castle, a fortress with a long history back to 1100 b.c. It has undergone many constructional changes through time, but was never destroyed. A guided tour will tell us about its history and special features.
After some relaxation with plenty of opportunity to enjoy the panorama over the river Rhine, we drive back to Koblenz for some culinary experience. The University campus marks the entry to the wine region "Mosel". We will take a guided tour through a vineyard and have a wine tasting of wines that grow right next to the campus.
Finally, we let the day fade away during dinner at a nearby restaurant with local cuisine.
Participants of the summer school register here. Deadline for registration is 8 June.
